Unforgettable Anilao Experience

Last June, a colleague from Austria came to visit here in the Philippines. Our team decided to to have a weekend getaway on a beach cause we know he'll love it. Summer vibe :)

After quick planning, we have decided to visit Anilao for snorkeling and chose Eagle Point Resort. Anilao is in Mabini, Batangas, south of Manila. Anilao is famous for divers and snorkelers. The surrounding waters of Anilao is teeming with marine life, plenty of corals and fish diversity. Okay, there are more amazing beach destinations in the Philippines, I've been to Palawan and Anilao is way behind in comparison but for a short trip from Manila, Anilao is the best diving and snorkeling destination.

As for why we chose Eagle Point among the many resorts in Anilao, hmmmm..there was this colleague who boasts about it, and talked a good deal about it, recommended it and so there we go, hoping for the best.

We decided to visit (day tour only) and pay on the resort. The day trip rate is 1800 per pax inclusive of welcome drinks and lunch. When we arrived in the resort we were served with chilled orange juice and after payment we proceed to the beach area. Nothing fancy for me, you have to go down some steps from the reception area to the pool area and then there was the beach area. We are talking about snorkeling and diving resort here, so expect no nice beach for swimming. You'll have to get a snorkeling gear and life vest and get in the rocky water for snorkeling.
The stairs to the right is for the reception area. The main building in the photo is the resort's restaurant.
The pool area.

There was no locker area but there were benches and tables near the pool. We chose one to leave our things and proceed to the snorkeling gear rental area. The rent is 250 pesos for the googles and snorkeling gear. However, there were many visitors that time and they are already out of stock, and there was no one manning the counter. Not to mention that we waited long for the man in the counter. The person that should man the counter was in the water for basic scuba diving instruction. Unfortunately, he is also the diving instructor. So we were left with nothing to do. The rocky water below is deep and for none swimmers like us, we need life vest and gear to get into the water.

We were really disappointed, we just wasted our money in the resort. If we just knew that we cannot use the resort facility, we just go directly to SEPOC island. There are cheaper ways to go to the island without having to pass the Eagle Point Resort. We decided to avail the SEPOC island trip for 2464/boat round-trip (See separate review). We requested for the restaurant to pack our lunch included in the package so we can bring it to the island.

The restaurant, the only fancy place. The ocean view is very nice.

The boat to the SEPOC island. Our pack lunch is in the white box. SEPOC island is in the distance.

I will definitely not go back to this resort again. And will certainly not recommend this to friends.
It is not worth the money spent. This is my review based on snorkeling activity purpose only. The resort maybe okay as diving site destination. Please do your own research.
